If I had the means and the courage, I would buy a boat, drop anchor in international waters, and live that way—expecting nothing and hoping for everything.

I Want to Be a Pirate (working title) is a love letter to the Mediterranean Sea, the Pacific Ocean, and perhaps, one day, the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, which I have yet to know.

I Want to Be a Pirate is nothing more than a clamor of my imagined life as a pirate, a mermaid, a creature of the sea.

I Want to Be a Pirate is a message in a bottle cast toward all the port cities that have welcomed me and, at times, tossed me about: Marseille, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

Finally, it is a tribute to my dear friend Étienne, who passed away in 2023 and who always dreamed of becoming a sailor.
