The show mimics the novel in its pursuit to communicate the perception of a misfit. A creature walks among us, disguised as one of us, and experiences life in a way that suddenly makes human behavior feel abnormal. Through the alien’s eyes, we reexamine human instincts and social norms. However, the show diverges from the original text to highlight the attraction and repulsion that every individual feels when faced with the unknown, to examine the paradox between the curiosity and the prospect of discovering something new, and fear of being destroyed by something we cannot control - a fear that can turn into hatred and violence if we are confronted with it.
